I'm thinking of installing the flywheel weight from Steahly for my FC250. But it requires gluing on the weight so it's irreversible. It's 8oz, so I should notice a difference, but do I want to take that chance? I have a Rekluse installed to help with flameouts; but I would rather not have one if I can get it to be as stall resistant as my 2 stroke.

I had the idle too low, and it was hard to start and would flame out easily. I set the idle to 2300 per the book, took out the crap motocross battery and put in a good one, and it starts great. I found I could lower the idle to about 1900-2000 and it still starts well, 2300 sounds a little high. It will still flame out occasionally even with Rekluse; so something still isn't right. TPS seems to be in the correct range.

I have several buddies with the FC/XCF that have installed the glue on 8oz flywheel weight & have like the results & they have told me they wish is was more weight.

I'm pretty sure I would want it to be heavier. I wonder if the EXC flywheel will fit, and how much heavier it is. Hm.

just an update on our project
the boss has been down at highland park this week (march break) and was able to get some riding in. and reported back to me yesterday. All good news: in a drag race between our project exc-f 250 "17" boss weighs in at 210 and xc-f 250"17" son weighs in at 125 all even . great luggable motor and then huge gain on top to keep up with the xc-f .
a recap of what we have done so far: raised the compression with a thinner head gasket, changed out both intake and exhaust cams replaced muffler with xc-f version replaced gearing with 13/51-2?
only issue is the ignition switch which we shall replace with a key eliminator from sicass
on his return we will start playing with the maps.

Well I had a chance to get out on the bike last week and the boss may not see this little rocket for the rest of the year (lol) it has more bottom end than I thought and on top it is great almost perfect for east coast woods and rocks. it has the grey throttle gear in it right now but I'd like to change that to the black one and see the difference I took a few pictures which I shall have to post but that is for another time I think this is how this bike should be too much fun

An update on my FC, sorry for the hijack. I added the glue on FWW from Steahly Off Road, now there are zero flameouts with the Rekluse. Before the FWW, it would occasionally flame out even with the Rekluse.

Well it has been some time since Ihave posted anything on my 250 excf project bike. Life just gets in the way sometimes. I am up in Colorado for the summer & have had several rides on it from 7500 ft to 12000 ft. It runs absolutely flawless & is a blast to ride. I have the vortex ignition on map5 & the xcd cams. no stalling to flameouts just perfection. It feels so light & you can ride it all day with a smile. I would like to get a little more pop out of the power or bark. I think that because of the heavier crank & flywheel on the excf it is a little slower to rev. I am doing some research to see if a different cam/cams or some headwork might help massage a little more power. I sometimes have wondered if a 350 would have been a better choice but when I ride a 350 it has more power it does feel heavier crazy I know. I think a 300 4 stroke is a perfect choice. more to come!

I know this is an old thread but by chance do you still have the 270 kit? I have my old bigbore kit from 5 years ago still so thought I'd give it a shot lol
