Rotella T-4 is what Ive been using. Get it on sale for about 10 bucks a gallon at costco when on sale. From what I can tell it works great, cheap, Id rather replace often than try stretching oil life just to justify the $. especially with the swamp/mud/water bs we deal with

What weight do you use on your rfs?

    T4 is non-synthetic 15W40 similar to the original Rotella T 15W40.

Is the t-4 good for a sxf250 for mx if changed like 3-4 hours

I'm one of the few that is not a fan of Rotella in my dirt engines. If trail riding and not pushing the engine hard it's probably ok as many have witnessed. In a high load, high rpm environment it seems it has made more heat and has degraded by 3hr mark. I don't have oil analysis to back that up, but my transmissions don't shift as smooth at that point. It makes sense though that in a more extreme situation at 40wt oil is not going to provide the same lubricating protection as a 50wt that KTM specs. I used to run 20W-50 Amsoil that was their V-twin oil, but have switched to their dirt bike specific 10W-50 the last few years since it came out. Better cold clutch action than the 20W-50. Running back to back with the Motorex 10W-50 I don't notice any difference.

I saw similar results when I tried a number of years ago when I raced MX. My bike shifted so badly I was afraid I was going to damage the transmission. I am also now running the Amsoil dirt bike oil.
