In the summer months in coastal NJ, temps are in the high 80s to high 90s. It's always warmer in the forest too, little wind, relatively low tree canopy, etc. Yes, mesh vented gear is a must but the best tip is to ride with frozen towels in the pack. Take a clean shop towel, wet heavily, roll into a rod, place in ziplock bag, and then into freezer overnight. Pack a few in a cooler and bring them in your pack. Break one out at each stop to help lower your core temp vs relying on perspiration alone to keep you cool.
