Get the 2020 300TPI. Latest evolution of the TPI injection, and each year brings significant improvement at this stage in its development. Also the 2020 will probably have better resale that will offset any savings you may get from a last year model rebate.
No need to consider a 250 unless you are a mad revver. The TPI 300s have super smooth power that suits everyone. It will not wear you out like the old 300s could.
    Go get it!

They're going to call me once they release their price sheet (June 3rd) at which point I'll need to decide on the 19 or get on a waiting list for the 20.

Then the other dilemma is do I step up to a 300??

I'm on an '08 250 XC right now so there's not much to compare.
I mostly ride woods and the occasional camping trip to more open terrain. I've been happy with the power of the 250 but I can hold my own on a 300 im sure.

Guess my first question is; those of you who've ridden a 300 and 250 tpi can you compare traits that may help me narrow a decision?

Second question is whether to wait on a MY2020 which I'm leaning toward unless the dealer offers a significant discount on the '19 in stock.
I was in the same choice dilemma as you 211, but after reading about the updates to the bike, specifically to the fuel map etc, I have decided that 2020 is the way to go. 300 xcw specifically. I have put $500 down to get the first one that comes in to my shop.

I thought this was a good ride report on the 2020 TE300i:

It will be good to be back on a KTM.

This post maybe a few months old but others may be contemplating the same question being that the 19s are still on the showroom floor. I struggled with my decision as well but ended up going with the 20 model 300 EXCW and I am so happy I did I write a huge variety of train and the extra Sensor makes a difference compared to my buddies 19. The dealer was only a few hundred bucks a part between the 19th and the 20 so it was well worth it for me to get the 20 and I couldnít be happier. By the way this is my first Two strokes and is coming off a YZ 250 and a CR 500. Since then Iíve been riding big bore KTM four strokes in this bike has made riding so much more enjoyable and a lot of fun. Go with the 20 go with the 300 and donít worry about the low first gear itís not true it works great especially for the gnarly riding I like to do

In my experience the 250s handle better, and there not much difference in the power.

250 do handle better and once in the power band not much difference its the low end to mid torque that 300's have over a 250

The beauty of the 300 is to grunt thru areas a gear higher than the 250 is able to....esp if you run a Rekluse. The 250 is more fun to rev out and often more exciting. I couldn't decide....and ride both quite often.
