    Bike was in quebec city , picked it up for 900 . Getting a 540 kit from thumper racing , theyre going to put the +1 valves and guides / seals .

    Id like to thank everyone who helped me decide which route to take . When people ask me about ktm parts , i know who to refer them to .

    Last post before the rebuild . Mostly jetting/head questions . 540 thumper racing kit ( still in a box ) , 11.8 or so , baldwin head with extra unshrouding , +1 kw valves , 833 , full akra , and this oddly sized 44.2mm inlet and 42.6mm outlet carb. The inlet tapers off quicly(1/2 inch ?) to 43.2 , then tapers to the 42.6 outlet . Jetting is currently as follows : mj190 , pj 42 , idle air jet 85 , with a obdtp needle set at the 4th position . Mj seems like a good size for break-in , but a bit on the rich side ? Im considering cutting slots on the side plastic and maybe velcroing some type of panel filter inside . Any other jetting recommendations ? Bob should i just back to a stock 39 ? Will the rd springs from the baldwin promo head(oem ti valves) work with my 833 and plus 1 kw valves ? 76-82 pounds closed and 165-172 somewhere between .350-.400 " lift , ( im at .361/.347). I also have a set of conical oem springs , i figure with the conical i might reduce valve float at the cost of low end torque ? Sounds like they were a good match in the smr . Or am i missing something . 9800 rpm for me ,i want it to rev but i want it to last . Welded 132.5 crank should make it another 200 hours . Cant afford the thumper billet stroker yet . Any input is appreciated , build only starts in 5-6 weeks , so no rush .

    Also why are the carb boots so huge ? Any quick fixes to recommend, like gasket maker and a reshape ? Lol . Outlet of carb is 42.6 , head 42 . Boot is like 44 . Are they all like this ?
