Thread: Motorcyclist Magazine discontinuing

Perhaps Motorcyclist would have lasted longer if the 2/3rds of the magazine wasn't devoted to anything except motorcycles. Wouldn't line a hamster cage with that garbage of a rag. It's very convenient for these mag types to blame the internet for decreased readership rather than their actual content. The magazine seemed like it was put together for a high school senior project by a bunch of kids who never rode, and didn't want to learn. Great article on the effects of smoking weed on riding though, who would've guessed those results? Maybe they should have devoted another 20 pages to that insightful journalism. And now they can do an article on putting a magazine out of business while high too. And to think of what it used to be decades ago, what a shame.

A couple years ago I was asked to do a product test and then write an article for motorcyclist magazine. So, I tested the product for a 3 month period and had some issues with that product. The company quickly sent me a replacement and all was well. In my article, I mentioned that I had a small issue but the customer service was excellent and my issue was quickly resolved. The editor of the magazine asked me to rewrite the article and not mention the issue. I refused and the article was never published. I have had a different outlook on magazines ever since.

I just received a letter from the United States District court, Eastern District of Michigan to file a claim against Bonnier Corp. (Motorcyclist magazine and others) who has set aside $2,150,000 in damages for violating Michigan residents privacy for selling info to 3rd parties, which they deny.

I recently heard that 'Motorcycle Consumer News' is closing up shop. That is a major bummer as it was the only or at least one of the only magazines that lacked commercial ads.
