Wait 'till you hear that Ken threw his XPLOR Forks in the trash after riding his SSS set-up.

Never done? It might be now.

Well, it looks like the first pass on the SSS shim stacks need an adjustment so I'm going to have to split the SSS open - shucks! I have a June 2nd surgery coming up and will miss the summer (shucks again - missing riding thru an Arkansas summer!) so I may not get these sorted until fall (one last shucks lol).

Sorry to hear that ken I know the frustration of going thru two shoulder surgeryís in a three year period. And itís harder to heal for us older guys to boot. Any way I thought you were happy with your forks are you doing this just to test or are you unhappy with your results.

I'm having a c5 - c6 cervical fusion June 2nd. I can't wait to get it done! Symptoms cropped up suddenly in Dec and have just gotten worse - results of a whiplash injury in 1988. I'll be riding again in early September. Not that it matters, but I turn 68 at the end of the summer (Sept 4).

The Xplor to OC conversion works great. I have spent the last year refining the OC stacks. I was really on the fence about the SSS conversion because the OC forks work so well. But I have spent lots of years on SSS since 2006 and I feel that they are ultimately much more capable especially in hare scrambles. I even installed SSS forks on my 2003 KX125 / KDX200 hybrid which now has 240hrs on it. I built this bike while recovering from 2 surgeries in 2014 - a rotator cuff repair and a knee microfracture surgery. I had all the parts needed for the SSS install (did I mention that I had lots of SSS parts and an extra set of SSS forks) plus a lathe to make any required spacers.

BTW, you can feel the difference in the 33mm KTM fork lug offset and the SSS 32mm lug offset. The SSS is slightly more stable and turns a little slower. I prefer the KTM offset as of today; ask me next week and I will probably say that I prefer the SSS. Both offsets have their advantages but neither is radically different.

Sorry to hear about all that..
But its best to do it when your young(er) and in good shape for recovery-
We are all wearing out little by little-

    Thinking about clamps...
I only have one 11, and nothing smaller-
    but I do have some 12x.15 14x.15 and 16x.15
as well as some 11x.10 and 13x.10
I took the 300 out and around, with the same stacks, and it seemed better, but I wasn't as "attacking" as i was out with the kids--
would you go first try with adding the 11 and 13? Or adding a 12x.15 and and maybe even the 14x.15? Or thats maybe a bit extreme-
I picked those up a while back to think about mimicking the 2016 500exc bv's- But missed ordering the 10x.30 clamps they use
    THANKS!

Add the 13.1, the 11.1 and change the 12.1 to the 12.15. Also remove the 17.1 crossover. This will stiffen the stack and decrease the float to .3mm. I would like to get it a little to stiff then make another change to soften the stacks. I'm just not sure we can do this with that 9.5 clamp. Should look like this:

    23 .1
