You can get a plate for a snow bike?

I have both the 350 and the 500. Note what I just purchased....another 500. I did ride the 350 a couple years and two plaques at the Big Bear Run and it was a bit easier on my 60+ yr old body. That said, I have to date earned some 12 plaques on either a 500 or 613RFS from GWR so I don't mind the big bikes in technical riding conditions. But in Baja or the states, I often find myself on a freeway or highway making my way to the next not so close destination. The 500 can cruise for hours at 75mph and it does not seem like its straining. Just have to stop and get gas every 200 miles with that 4 gal tank. This is the first year in 15 that I was not out riding LAB2V and I don't miss the 950miles in two days Iron Man style that I rode the last 10 years.

    I have a '16 500XC-W I mainly use for Colorado single track.
    I've had several 350 XCFs since '13 and currently have a '19 350XCF.

Other than Colorado I prefer the 350 hands down.
I mainly ride at a faster pace on Texas single track, ie; good dirt, not rocky.
I'll do occasional cross country races on it also.
I'm getting a little old to still push it hard, but when I do the 350 rewards with a pure race bike feel, I love that.
The downside to the 350 is lack of grunt.
The 350 has power numbers (HP) but has to rev to get there.
That reving loads the rear tire up and makes it less tractable, particularly when a trail gets steep.
To be clear, 350 has good bottom power, but it's not a 500.

All that to say, if I could only have one bike I'd go with a 500....

The main reason is the 500 is superior in Colorado.
I have up and down years on how much riding I get, but CO is 8 days of all day single track riding and the 500 wins there, easily.
Granted it's not ideal in tight trails but does well on flowing trails and can rip if needed.
Yes it makes me a little more worked over after a day of local riding, but being able to easily twist the throttle to lift the front end over an obstacle always makes me smile.

    Good luck whatever you choose!

Forgot a couple of your specific questions...
Weight wise the 350 does feel a little lighter overall, not a huge feeling but noticeable.
The 350 is more maneuverable/flickable, but its not a MASSIVE difference.
Also agree with the others that if you do ever go the snowlike route, 500 would be better

I'd actually stop right there, and ignore anything the dealer said. The 500 is one of, if not the best selling KTM. Dealers can't keep them in stock. The 350 doesn't sell as fast, and a salesperson will say anything to sell stock on hand.
I love my 350, and wouldn't ever consider a 500, but if you were set on the 500, then stick w/ the 500 and don't second guess yourself solely based on something a salesperson said.

I believe that is correct...the 350 outsells the 500 overall.

As I'm having trouble finding a GOOD used 500 locally and I like the wife's stock 2016 EXC-F, except the power is a little flat in the bottom....and that doesn't work well for me.

So, question: Is there anyone here with long term experience with the Thumper Racing 390cc big bore kit on the 350 engine, which might sub for my yearning for a 500?
