When you build the Mv assembly you use shims independent of the shim stack to achieve the desired amount of float. So if they have the same port dimensions i donít think it would make a difference. One of the changes that might help the feel is the base shim in the base valve of the 19 Xplor it has 4 .30mm thick shims instead of one. For some reason they changed the height of the base valve. I think it might be for better flow extra shims cost money and time.

I have got the complete parts list for the forks and shock of the 2017, 2019 and 2020. I'll post a comparison here soon.

Try less rebound (faster) and more compression(stiffer).

The whole piston was thicker or the pocket on the compression side was deeper?

That small amount is in the realm of manufacturing tolerance, btw, and not necessarily a design change.

I'm really interested in this investigation on the parts your guys are doing. It going to help me a lot. I'm getting ready to build a set of 2017 KTM explorerer for my 2019 TX 300. I need a second set of forks for woods riding and this sounds very interesting. I'd really like to see the difference in the 17-19 forks. They must have made some improvments since they brought out this stupid idea.

Instead of building a second set of forks look at some of the other alternatives. Kraft, Krooztune have a better or larger range of adjustment thru adjustable float from the top compression adjuster on the left fork I have installed the Krooztune system in my bike and there is a lot more adjustability then stock.

I converted my Xplor to open chamber and they are essentially 2014 XCW forks. You can convert to open chamber using stock WP parts for less than $200.00. See the following threads:

Also of interest are Picklito's mods as described in the 'Xplor-to-open-chamber-parts-list' above. Take a look at Picklito's mods and determine if they are for you.
