Thread: Going from 2015 300XC to 2020 TX300

    Default Going from 2015 300XC to 2020 TX300

Iíve been on this forum for a while, and have received a plethora of great information and tips throughout the years. This is my first time posting however.
After 5 years and 230 hrs on my faithful 300 XC, (had a 2012 Husaberg TE300 before that) I decided to take the plunge Into the TPI world.
After fitting on all the protection items (AXP skid plate, Cycra hand guards, Bullet Proof Rad guards, and a Tusk rear disk fin) Iíve now put on about 20 hrs and all I can say is wow. You get mixed messages about TPI sometimes reading this forum but the 2020 TPI is amazing for me. Iím just an average guy with average skills, but I like everything from techy 1st gear tight rocks/logs to flowey 3-4 gear single track and even the odd 6th gear blast down fire roads. These 300ís do it all. Thatís no surprise, but what is a surprise is just how good this 2020 runs stock.
What Iím most excited about is putting on an RKT head on it. My 2015 had one and ran really strong ( along with lectron carb, FMF pipe/silencer and SX ignition box) and the best way to describe it was like cheating in tight technical stuff where youíre just tractoring and have the throttle just barely open. The off idle grunt on my 15 was so good, and while the 2020 is super strong and linear, itís a bit soft off idle Iím looking forward to adding some grunt back. Itís in the mail as we speak so Iíll report back how it does.

Will do ! Also I forgot to mention how good the suspension is on this TX. On my previous bikes I had them re-sprung and re-valved by Pro-Action in Calgary, and they worked really good after that. This one I just experimented with air pressure in the front fork and got a stiffer rear spring for my bodyweight so that I could set the sag correctly, and the bike feels so plush and stable but yet very planted. Maybe the degree of angle change of the motor in the frame adds to the planted feel ? But either way, Iím happy that all it cost me was a rear spring to get it feeling so good.

I made basically the same change, going from a 2012 250xc to a 20 tx300 and I agree on all your statements. I put a fatty and powercore 2.1 on it and it definitely woke it up a bit haha!

I was curious how the 2.1 does on these. Do you find that the 2.1 sticks out as far as the factory muffler, or is it tucked in a bit ? I prefer that itís tucked in/hidden. Iíve always ran FMF shortys on previous bikes, which is the ďolderĒ style muffler, but I see now that there a ďnewĒ style 2.1 shorty version.

Itís the titanium standard length 2.1. I agree I wanted it to be a little shorter but also didnít want to be loud so I ran with it. I have a buddy that just got the shorty so I canít wait to hear how it sounds in comparison.

Your bike looks awesome! Sweet setup. I also like the Kieth Curtis numbers !
If you donít mind, let me know how the shorty does on your buddyís bike.

I snagged this pic from the Facebook TPI page. I like the look of this silencer, but it's not a spark arrestor so it doesn't work for me.

Well my RKT head came in the mail today. Got it installed and fired it up In The garage just to make sure coolant was bled properly and all my bolts were tight, etc. Canít wait to try it out and see if it adds a bit of snap to the bottom end like it did on my 15 300xc. Been raining for two days though, will go out when it stops.
