    Default Repairing stripped shroud/radiator mount

I stripped one of the shroud mounts (radiator) on my 2007 450 EXC.

Searching here I found some odd suggestions on how to fix, timesert, filling with JB Weld and tapping etc.

The mount is a standard "6mm hex rivnut". Search for this on eBay (the "hex" part is important) and you'll get lots of hits.

There is no part shown on the RFS fiche but you can use KTM parts 55003139600 or 55003139900. The former is slightly shorter.

Carefully remove the old stripped one FROM THE REAR. I used an angle grinder with cutting disk running it as flush as possible to the rear side of the radiator without hitting it. If you still have any remains at the rear you could remove with a dremel. You should then be able to pry the remains out from the front using a screwdriver revealing the hex shaped mounting hole.

Insert the new rivet using a bolt, nut and washer. Picture below. Video (not from me) here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6H6wr7fJYo

Keep the flange of the nut tight to the front of the radiator as you tighten it.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for that. I fixed mine with a heli-coil recently. I'd have bought the KTM part had I known.
