    Question 2021 250xc or 2021 250 xcf??

Time for a new ride, gonna sell my 2017 250XCW. My choice is the 250XC or the 250XCF. I was thinking that if I have to have fuel injection than I might choose the F, lighter, no oil tank, no "unknown" issues. BUT, I kinda like 2 strokes, I grew up riding them.
    WHAT would you DO?

This is a very tough call. 1st question: Do you race? (advantage XC-F) 2nd question: Is your terrain more flowy/open or occasional Motocross? (Advantage XC-F) or more tight Eastern single track? (Advantage XC)

Both are great bikes that crossover well into either scenario I described. The 2 stroke is a more visceral fun for me and less complex to work on motor internals than 4 stroke.

Good luck deciding. You should get some good insight from others here. Enjoy whichever one you pick.

I would agree with the above.

If your racing or riding fast gncc stuff I would go with the XC-F. If your riding real technical slower single track or racing hard enduro go for the XC. I personally can't stand the four stroke stalling in technical stuff and would have to have a Rekluse.

If you are racing JDays and Netra stuff either will do fine. You may want to try and ride the 17 + XCF and decide which way to go. The 2021 XC should be well sorted with a good map setting from KTM now.

Was a long time 250 XCW owner(11' 15' & 16' models). Currently ride a TE-300. I was considering a 250XCF last year, but after riding one at a KTM demo I decided against it. It was light, but felt very underpowered compared to my 250 2-stks. Just seemed like you had to rev the he!! out of it and be aggressive to get it moving, where as the 250 XCW is quite the opposite. Simply put, the F felt slow and required much more effort to go fast on compared to my 250 2 strokes. It was definitely more linear, which made it boring. Not a bike I enjoyed riding.

I donít think the f is any lighter than the 2 stroke, and the f will probably feel heavier in turns. Once you rev out a 250f there is a lot of engine inertia to overcome. Stalling is another issue. I sold my crf250rx for a 300xc because of the constant stalling in any kind of technical terrain.

I just moved from a 19 250xc to a 2020 250xcf. The first ride I took both bikes on a narly 3 day single Trac ride up here in Idaho and I rode the xcf all 3 days. Everyone else was on 300 2 strokes. I went everywhere they did and had a ton of fun on it. It does feel heavier in some spots but it turns better in corners. It is a great bike. I just sent the ECU off to blais racing for further improvement. It doesn't over heat or stall as bad as the bigger 4 strokes and I hope the ECU mapping from Blaise will help. It is a great bike and I am happy with the purchase. I had a chance to ride the new tpi and they are a huge step backwards from the carb bikes.

I ride for 1 real reason and that is to have fun. I am faster on the 4 strokes but have more fun on the 2st so that is what I normally ride. I do all my own maintenance and repairs so the extra cost of the 4st is not too bad unless I scatter one. Hasn't happened so far, well not completely! The new FI 2 strokes are really easy to live with. They use almost no oil and are very stingy on fuel. They will lug below idle and when the throttle is snapped open they just pull with no hiccups. I actually geared my 250xc up and have had no issues with our tight trails. [50 tooth rear] I have not had any issues with overheating. Sooo life can be short, ride what makes you happy! CJ
