Default Can I use this 12V AC-DC converter to replace stock headlight for LED?

Can I use this 12v AC-DC converter from the link below, on the 12v AC headlight out of my carbed 2017 KTM 300 XC-W, to power a 9-30v DC LED (2.6A draw)?

Is it possible to do this without touching the startor or stock wiring?

Nope. You need one that will take up to 36v ac input as the voltage varies as bike revs. I used a 50v diode bridge and a large capacitor. Cam

But the headlight output isn't already 12v regulated?

I think the the headlight output is AC. If it is already regulated by the VR to 12V then you could use the convertor. Can you measure the headlight voltage while reving? My bike is the XC which has a slightly different electrical system. Cam.

It is AC 12v according to KTM manual. I will measure the voltage to be sure.

Guijs, the system is already regulated to 12v, that converter will work. If you were to connect to the stator output directly you'd need the a converter capable of handling the higher output at the stator.

Hi Chris, I bought a kit for a AC-DC converter that you can adjust the output between 9-32v. Didn't assembled it yet but I guess it should work. I'll post here when it's done. Thanks for helping.

That converter on the link you posted was only 3A, or 36W total, you won't power any decent lights off that.

I didn't bought that converter. I got a kit that handles 7A/100W output. My LED is 2.6A/48W.
