So I'm also putting in a 5.0 spring. so I'm thinking about adding a face shim or 2 and putting in 2 26.3 for the clamp on the rebound stack
To me it seams there is not enough rebound control with the stock spring so I want to add a good about of rebound

I also have been thinking of getting the gold valve for a 2019 ktm 250xc shock.Does anybody have any imput on the gold valve.my shock has been revalved with a bladder conversion the problem i get is when u back the HS compression off enough to get it to feel good at about 2 1/4 turns it gets wallory and feels like it sits low at times u cant really push the bike hard at race pace. If i turn it in to 2 turns it get pretty rough especially on braking bumps. at 2 1/4 turns out it drives the front end crazy in the faster paced stuff.

You are correct. Stock rebound is mildly light. What clicker setting are you running there? It will be very light with a 5.0 spring. Try this:

    Reb
    40.2 (4)
    28.1
    40.25
    38.25
    36.25
    34.25
    32.25
    30.3
    28.3
    26.3

    DCC
    20.1
    22.15
    20.15
    18.15
    16.15

Here is the 2020 250xc settings and my modifications: All shims are 1 unless specified. The stock shock is a bit wallowy and lacks some compression dampening and a bit of rebound control. I think this hurts the turning and as the speeds pick up the bike doesn't feel stable. These mods keep the plushness but make the forks feel a bit better in my testing. You will be able to go faster with more control and less chassis movement.

    Comp:
    45x.20 x 6
    add underneath 1x 44x.20
32x.15 cross swap to 34x.15 instead
    42x.20 x 1
    40x.20
    38x.20
    36x.20
    34x.20
    32x.20 swapped for 32 x .25
    30x.25
    28x.25
    26x.25
    24x.25
    22x.20 clamp
    30x .30 x 5 for spacing

    Rebound
    40x.20 x 3 add 1 shim here
    28x.10 swap to 28.15 shim
    24x.10 delete
    38x.25
    26x.25
    34x.25
    32x.25 swap to 32x.30
    30x.30
    28x.30
    26x.30
    24.30
    Plate

I do not have the HS adjuster noted. Let me know how it goes or just run the stock settings as a start point and modify if you choose.

If I go to use these settings do I have to worry about my piston not being dished like the new ones or will I really not notice. Modding a 18 sxf shock.

Greg, I think you said you went to a 5.0 spring. I don't think the stock XC settings are good with a 5.0. And, the stock DCC is very firm. Did you run all the stacks as stock XC?

I cannot answer that from the 18. If the pistons are the same dimensions fit wise but different port wise you could just order a 20 piston and run those settings.
