    Default Magura Brake Feedback

I'm looking at upgrading from my 2017 FX450 to a 2021 (still not entirely sure what model yet). My bike has Brembo brakes and there are times that I'm over working the front. I know there was some debate when the switch was made to Magura brakes if it was a good move or not. Just curious if the latest 2020 models have been better or at least as good as what I'm running now.

Maybe I should ask the question differently. For the guys on later model 2019/2020 bikes have you ever wished you had more stopping power (especially on the front)? Or have you ever thought you had less bite than previous bikes you've had?

I had a 17 300XC-W and now have a 20 TE300. The Brembo front brake is definitely more sensitive to lever input. Almost like a hair trigger. The Magura front brake is every bit as powerful but you need to apply more pressure to the lever to get the same amount of stopping power.

I'd agree with Cactus. Had 18,19,20 and now 21 and the Magura feel is good, just not as touchy at initial squeeze. Issue I have is the increased lever take-up before resistance starts compared to Brembo. I have to leave my lever reach further out to compensate. Tried just switching master to a Brembo but the improvement was maybe half better than a complete Brembo set up.

If I were riding MX, like I used to, I'd want the Brembo's. But for off road, I like the Magura set up much better. Because the Magura gives/needs a more progressive input. This is a much better front brake, especially on down hills.

Hmm interesting. So same power just different modulation. I'm already having to pull my lever pretty good to get the braking force I'm looking for. At the end of the last race I was squeezing it for all I was worth on the downhills when I was weak and tired.

For me every other lever pull is different. Firm, soft, firm, soft,,,,, Same on the other Husqvarna's in our riding group.
