    Default cylinder base gasket thickness

    Hi
I am changing piston on ktm tpi 250 2019 and i am wondering what thickness is original base gasket. I want to put same thickness as original but i am not sure if i can make accurate enough measurment of old gasket.

You have to check the squish since there are so many different gaskets.

I use something like this to make my life way easier. It will take care of the x and z dimension. Youll have a heard time measuring the old gasket, especially if there are multiples stacked.

Get a caliper and check the thickness after you remove it. Most hardware, auto parts and sporting goods (for reloading) carry fairly inexpensive $20-40 ones.

However it probably is a .5mm

Did my 19 250TPI recently, and it was a combo of 2 gaskets. I do not remember which ones. I really don't pay attention to that part, even though I did use my calipers to check them. It's all about getting the X dimension right with the new piston. Which also took two gaskets on mine. I just buy most of the sizes that are available.

like I said, my 19 250tpi had a 20 thousandths gasket, Unless they vary from engine to engine?

My understanding is they do vary and .5-.75 mm is normal

For the 2017 and newer 250 and 300, the thickness options are:
    .2mm, .25, .4, .5 and .75.
When the engine is assembled at the factory, the gasket or combination of gaskets that cause the X dim to = 0, are installed.
There is no stock thickness gasket.

My experience is that a .2mm AND a .4mm are often installed at the factory (for 250/300), but not on ALL engines.

That sounds right for what my motor took.

This has been the case for my past 2 300's - stock was .2mm and .4mm combined
