    LOLOL

He’s one of, if not the most, dedicated racers the sport has ever seen. He knew what he was getting into the moment he started to entertain the concept of a comeback.

What he did not properly calculate is that he’s a bit of a social pariah within the sport and that would cause it to be harder for him to gain access to factory tech than he expected. The “industry” does not appreciate Dungey and never will. Unfortunately.
    No, I wasn't assuming.
It's what I took from his own comments about recent discussions with his wife and weighing up the sacrifices he would have to make to family time etc., in the same interview that he mentioned not being able to strike a deal that suited him and his family.

Of course I have inside info.
What is your source? No need to name names, just want to understand what your POV is.

I don't have any sources or insider information. That being said I was talking directly to DeCoster and Stephanie years back about Dungey. Roger said he never had to worry about Ryan showing up, being professional, and doing his job. The job of winning races and winning titles. This was when Roczen was on the team and Roger said the opposite was true about Ken at that time. I've always respected Dungey and what he accomplished.

    Yep. Roczen’s a nightmare.

Nice kid. Fun person. Talented as it gets. Totally unfocused. Really difficult to test with.

I thought that HRC would set him straight. I was wrong.

I am always in disbelief that a company as serious as HRC are willing to deal with the BS. Same company couldn’t play nice with Rossi and he actually delivered results. Yet they got all the patience in the world for Roczen. Makes no sense to me.

A large part of that is because OEMs are reluctant to give up so much control. Dungey wants absolute 110% control of his team top to bottom. Access to factory tech with zero political strings attached.

    Personally, I like his approach.

But throughout his career he made a LOT of people in the industry uncomfortable due to how straight edge his program was. He upsets the industry status quo by taking the sport as seriously as he does.

Many within the industry long for the days of the frat boy McGrath/Emig era. They’d like to hold onto some semblance of that for as long as possible. For better or worse, this sport is old school still. Hasnt “grown up”. And thus wonders why it struggles to maintain corporate sponsors other than energy drinks which are every bit the “party” most corporations try not to be.

Dungey’s legacy aside, i cant help but focus on the fact that he couldnt get the support from an OEM he was seeking is a bad sign of just how far this sport still has to mature.

Agreed. Year after year the sport screams "bush league"!
