Do the USA models have map options/switches standard?
The USA market has two models of KTM 500- The 500 EXC-F and 500 XCF-W

The 500 XCF-W: has selectable engine maps AND has different maps for each gear, "according to the information received from the gear sensor"

The 500 EXC-F: only has the different maps for each gear

The South Africa model KTM 500 doesn't need the emissions hardware that our USA models have, so no closed-loop system with the oxygen sensor in the header pipe.

Back to your other question, I don't see any easy way to remove the cone shaped baffles on the inside of the stock silencer. Just having installed the Fastway Billet endcap made a nice increase in low end torque. Modifying the silencer further might add a little more grunt, and then MUCH higher noise levels.

Are the internal silencer baffles close to the outlet as pictured below in your SA silencer?

-or are they closer to the middle of the silencer?

    The 2019 cross-section:

None of my bikes in my signature ever had Map or Map switches that I knew about. They would have been a joke due to CARB.

ok, thanks to everyone. this is a learning experience!
my internal baffles/cones are close enough to the endcap that you can see the pointy end just under the base of the Fastway. I can put my finger in and touch it, maybe it's 1/4" below the end of the silencer. Yes, exactly like the one in your diagram.

Here, we have map/traction switches on the handlebar. 6 days comes standard with it and I added it to my bike and my buddy did as well. (I was waiting for the 6 days but they still haven't hit the showrooms... ) You have map 1 and 2 to choose (1 standard, 2 timing advanced). Traction control on/off.

    unrelated tidbit.
here they come stock with 50t rear. I was surprised, considering I've always run 48. We are at 5k ft altitude, so we are down like 15-20% power just from altitude. I wonder if they stick the 50 on it from the factory to try to make up for the off the line loss. I just swapped to a 14/48 setup.

A rather long/boring video on installing the billet endcap

my 17 only has the single cone but I think the method would be the same. there is a youtube video that shows how to remove it. you have to disassemble the muffler and grind off the welds on the perf tube, then use a 3/32 drill to clear the internal welds. then pound a long flat blade screwdriver to break it free. all told it took me about 2 hours.

Figured it would involve disassembly then grinding/pounding.

Not sure if I were to do that if then I would need to do some ecu changes to richen the fuel up or not...
